Itineraries at a Glance:

Whales & Wildlife: Cruising to Land's End

Day 1:  Arrive in La Paz, Mexico.  Taxi transfer voucher provided to Don Jose.  Overnight on board and dinner on your own.

Day 2-6: La Paz to the trip of Baja.  You spend these days cruising the Sea of Cortez.  The trip will offer the opportunities for snorkeling with the sea lions at Los Islotes, hiking at Los Frailes, spotting humpback, finback and gray whales and eventually arriving at Cabo San Lucas.

Day 7: The boat will return to La Paz arriving mid afternoon and you will disembark and spend the night at the Hotel Marina with dinner on your own.

Day 8: Depart La Paz for home or if you would like you can add a day trip to Magdalena Bay and the gray whales.  This is a full day with a four hour van ride each way but the thrill of actually being able to touch a whale makes the driving time worth it. Sea of Cortez Wildlife Cruises:

Day 1:  Arrive in Loreto or La Paz (depending on routing) and spend the night dockside on the Don Jose.  Dinner on your own.

Day 2-6: The daily itinerary is flexible in order to take advantage of the wildlife sightings.  The main objective is to see and observe blue whales, finback whales and dolphins as well as all the other marine animals and birds located along the route.  There will be time to stop at some of the islands along the way like Isla Catalina, Isla San Fransico, Isla Santa Cruz, Agua Verde and Los Islotes.

Day 7:  Arrive in La Paz or Loreto (depending on routing) and spend that night at a local hotel.  Dinner on your own.

Day 8:  Depart for home.

San Ignacio Lagoon Whale Watching Camp:

Day 1: San Diego to San Ignacio Lagoon. Upon arrival, an orientation to camp procedures and assignments, you have time to relax.

Day 2 - 4: San Ignacio Lagoon Base Camp: Whale watching excursions begin! The morning excursion will be followed by lunch, and time to enjoy a short walk along the beach, kayaking excursion or just some relaxing time with a book from our camp library. A return to the whale viewing area in the early afternoon will give you another opportunity to spot more gray whales and their calves.

Day 5: San Ignacio Lagoon to San Diego: After breakfast, we pack and say our last good-byes to San Ignacio Lagoon. At mid-morning, our Baja Expeditions bus will transfer you to the landing strip where you will board the airplane to return to the border. We recommend that you schedule your return flight for the following morning in case of any delay.

Magdelena Bay Whale Watching:

Day 1: La Paz to Magdalena Bay: Once we arrive at the Bay, a short boat ride delivers us to our base camp, where you'll have an orientation.

Day 2 - 3 ~ Magdalena Bay: There are two excursions each day using motorized skiffs, each lasting up to three hours. In between whale watching excursions, you'll have time for walks along the beach or hikes in the dunes. You can also go kayaking on guide-led forays into the mangroves or other permitted paddling areas using our fleet of kayaks.

Day 4: Magdalena Bay to La Paz

Prices start from $240 per person per day based on dbl occ

Itinerary for el Mechudo:

 

This is the best thing about this trip.  You set up your own itinerary based on your interests and the time of year!  We can help you decide but ultimately the trip is yours. Suggested activities include: sailing, whale watching, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, giant Humboldt squid diving, bird watching, and natural history observation

We would suggest a minimum of 5 days in order to give yourself time to enjoy some of what the Sea of Cortez has to offer.

Prices Begin at: $2250 per 24 hour period, including up to 8 passengers.
