Utah Rafting

Utah provides some of the best rafting opportunities in the West.  From the Canyonlands of Southwestern Utah to the upper reaches of the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument the Green and Colorado River System has the perfect trip for families, groups and individuals.  Utah is where whitewater rafting as we know it originated.

Cataract Canyon offers the biggest whitewater in Utah.  The trips travel through Canyonlands National Park ranging in length from 3-6 days they offer hiking opportunities as well as big rapids.  Moab and Green River Utah are the starting points for these adventures.

Westwater Canyon offers a great one or two day trip option for those with a limited amount of time.  Sometimes called a "mini-Grand Canyon" this part of the Colorado River provides plenty of fun and excitment.

Desolation Canyon hardly lives up to its name.  The Green River flows through this canyon and old growth cottonwoods are found at most of the river camp spots.  A perfect trip for families and for folks wanting to enjoy not only the river but the history of the area too.

Lodore Canyon is located in Dinosaur National Monument.  This part of the Green River is located further north in Utah with the starting and point of Vernal, UT.  The scenery is more alpine and the rapids are fun and spirited.  Trips are 3-5 days in length and all trips are run on oar powered rafts.

Yampa River is a tributary of the Colorado River with its headwaters in Colorado.  The Yampa is a free flow river, one of the few left in the Southwest.  The season is short May-early July but the scenery is spectacular.  The river joins up with the Green River and finishes close to Vernal, UT.

San Juan River located on the border between Utah and Arizona this is the perfect starting point for anyone's first rafting experience.  Trips are 1-6 days in length beginning and ending in Bluff, UT.  The area is rich in archeological sites with some fun rapids.  It is the perfect trip for families with the minimum age being 5 years old.
