Idaho Rafting

Idaho hosts some of the most pristine wilderness rivers in North America.

The state's vast roadless wildlands, rugged mountains and heavy snowfall combine to create outstanding wilderness rivers.  This sprawling region contains an enormous diversity of river landscapes from steep forested canyons with white sandy beaches and cold clear side-streams to open valley-canyons with river bottom homesteads.  Most are not dam regulated so their waters fluctuate seasonally. The most popular rivers are the Selway, Snake, Main Salmon, Middle Fork of the Salmon and others.

The whitewater on these rivers is Class II-IV+ depending on time of year and river chosen.  Hot springs are found on most of the rivers.  If fishing is your main interest then the Middle Fork of the Salmon would be your first choice.  The most pristine river would have to be the Selway which has the most limited season and access of all the rivers.  The Main Salmon is the perfect family vacation and the Snake is infamous as it flows through the deepest gorge in North AmericaHells Canyon.

These trips are run on oar powered rafts. Some trips also bringing paddle rafts along if there is enough interest. Drift boats are also available on the Middle Fork to enhance the fishing opportunities.  These boats take only two passengers with a guide making fishing from the boat a memorable experience.

Depending on the river and snow pack, trips run from June through September. Trip length ranges from 3-6 days on average.  Minimum age also varies from 8-12 depending on river and river flow.
