FAQ's

BRING A RAINSUIT. THE RIVER IS COLD.

The trip is 35 river miles.  It's an 11 hour day, door to door from Peach Springs, Arizona (8 am to 7 pm) including round-trip transportation, lunch, juice or soft drinks and water.  River time is approximately 6-7 hours (9:30-2:30+).

You will run the last rapids on the Colorado River in the first 10 miles of the trip. The rapids are Class II & III (medium-sized).  The rest of the trip, 25 miles in the canyon, is scenic flat water.

You'll be in the bottom of the Grand Canyon with the canyon walls 3000' above you.

The rafts are MOTORIZED.  There is NO PADDLING.  The shortest non-motorized trip in Grand Canyon is 5 days.

The water is always 45-55 degrees, but the air temperature is seasonally hot, even into October.

While rare, it is possible during times of severe weather (spring winds / summer rains) that the helicopters may be grounded and you will have to stay on the boats for the 3-4 hour trip to Lake Mead. This is only done for your safety.  From Lake Mead you board the bus for transportation back to the Lodge in Peach Springs arriving between 9:30pm and 10:30pm. Dressing to be warm and dry is the key, especially during the spring and summer monsoons. Please be prepared. Call our office with any questions or for any claification on the above.

Toilet facilities are available at the river before boarding the boats, at the heli pad before flying out and at the helipad on the rim of the Canyon. Pit stops during the day
take place in the wet sand next to the river. A two piece bathing suit as an under garment make pit stops more convenient for ladies.

BYO RAIN SUIT and personal snacks. Waterproof ponchos are not effective.

Children must be 8 years old minimum.  There is no maximum as long as you are physically able.

T
rip price is $373 per person including tax. For children 8-11 the charge is $345. Payment is due in full at the time of booking. PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE INCREASE IN FUEL COSTS A $9.00 PER PERSON CHARGE WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR TRIP COST

The River Runners reserve the right to cancel any trip due to weather conditions, insufficient bookings, unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, or any other conditions that would, in our opinion, affect the safety or enjoyment of the river trip. If we cancel for any reason, we will refund all river trip deposits or payments you have made regardless of payment date. Also, we feel that you are as safe with us on the river trip as you would be driving to and from your vacation. However, no outdoor activities are without the possibility of unforeseen hazards. Therefore, our passengers should be prepared to assume responsibility for any bodily injury or personal property loss or damage incurred during the river trip outing. Cancellations received 60 days or more before the trip date will receive a full refund less a $25.00 per person cancellation fee. Cancellations received within 60 days of the trip date will forfeit the full fare. Date changes are NOT PERMITTED WITHIN 45 days of the trip date.

Lodging is available in Peach Springs at the Lodge for the night before and after the trip. We offer the following discounted rates if you book your rooms in conjunction with your river trip. Rooms come with 2 Double Beds or 1 King. 2 Double Beds are $88 incl tax per room dbl occ.  Rooms with 1 King Bed are $99.00 incl tax dbl occ. Additional adults (over 16 yrs) are $8.00 each in the room.  Roll-aways are available for an additional $20.  Rooms are air conditioned. There is a restaurant which is open 6 AM- 9 PM. There is also a saltwater pool.  Alcoholic beverages are not available since the Lodge is on reservation land.  Most people stay the night before the trip so they can have breakfast in the morning and are there and ready to go.  Otherwise you have to be driving at 5:00-5:30 AM from most other places to be there by 7:30 in time to park your car and be ready to go.

Please Note: The Santa Fe Railroad tracks run behind the Hualapai Lodge and trains run throughout the day and night and are required to sound their horn at the crossing. The Lodge does their best to place rafters in the front of the lodge to reduce the noise, however you can expect this noise and may want to invest in some earplugs.
